Kevin Durant's ninth signature sneaker is set to debut this summer.
The Nike Air Zoom KD 9 offers support, comfort and responsiveness via the most advanced construction of Nike Flyknit and Zoom Air technologies to date, adapted to basketball’s specifications.
Designed by Leo Chang, the sneaker stays low-cut, and features a Flyknit upper, with a with a distinct honeycomb structured pattern, engineered down to the pixel for maximum containment. An all-new visible, tapered Zoom Air unit runs from heel to toe, and makes its debut on the KD 9.
Developed over three years of advanced wear testing, the new Zoom Air unit is filled with fibers that compress upon each step, then spring back for unmatched response, is 16 millimeters thick at the heel and progressively narrows to 10 millimeters at the forefoot. This architecture is tuned to provide maximum impact protection while amplifying the bouncy feel of the Zoom Air unit.
Lastly, the midsole is minimized to enhance the responsive sensation produced by the Zoom Air unit, and is articulated with anatomical flex groove strategically placed in the forefoot to maximize natural transitions, whereas heel notches add stability to lateral movements.
The Nike Air Zoom KD 9 "Zero" is set to debut on June 20th with the "Premiere/USA" edition to follow on July 1st and the "Mic Drop" on July 9th, respectively.
